Organizational and operational infrastructure: Assisted a tax exempt organization that was rolling out a capital campaign that would be followed by a new services campaign. The organization had minimal accounting and process infrastructure. Developed and implemented the organizational and operational infrastructure to support the roll out of the campaigns, including the legal structure and tax exemptions; governance rules and documents; accounting systems and internal controls; general purpose financial statements; treasury management; and investment management.

Business planning: Prepared a business plan, budgets and presentation summary for the shareholders of a startup hospitality company to present to potential funding sources. Developed the business, market and cost information included in the business plan. Prepared operating, capital and cash flow budgets, and developed monitoring processes and procedures to control expenses and cash flow. Created and implemented accounting processes and procedures, internal accounting controls and a management reporting system to guide the shareholders on key performance matters. Participated in the meetings with the potential funding sources and advised the shareholders in the financing discussions and negotiations.

Operating budget: Compiled the initial operating, capital and staffing budgets for the Board of Managers of a startup municipal long term care facility and advised the Board on the estimated cost structure, alternative operating models, financing alternatives for long lived assets and working capital requirements, and state staffing code regulations and practices. Created a monthly management report that included variance reporting by responsible managers.

Budget and business development model: Advised a construction subcontractor and developed a model to budget and forecast operations, capital investment and cash flow over a multiple year period and prepare management reports for decision making, and recommended processes to prepare and use the model as a strategic management tool. The model infrastructure was divided into budget and forecast modules. The budget module included input capabilities for multiple measurement units, level of operations, growth, short and long term debt, labor and other operating variables. The forecast module enabled sensitivity analyses of the budget module inputs. The model prepared management reports, including company wide draft balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements, cash flow graphs, and other management indices for both the budget and forecast modules. Measurement unit management reports included yearly and monthly income statements, cash flow graphs and other management indices.
